With some artists, you simply know what you're going to get. Herman Frank, who is best known (to me anyway) as former guitarist for Accept, is consistent to say the least.
Right then, do you love 80's Heavy Metal that's arguably a little cheesy and verging on the ridiculous, but is ultimately well crafted, catchy as Hell, and performed by top level musicians who play like their lives depend on it? If your answer is 'Yes', you've come to the right place.
Like his previous album, Fight The Fear (click here for my review), and let's be honest, all of his other albums too, this is full-on Heavy Metal.
The production sounds better than on his previous records, but that's all that has really changed. That's not a bad thing though because when someone buys a Herman Frank record it's because they want that shot of high quality full-octane Metal. No frills. No surprises.
It's all easy to digest and that sense of familiarity provides a warm nostalgic feeling in my belly like a warm hot chocolate at Christmas. Seriously though, there are some killer tracks on here. There's Venom, which sounds like a 'macho Whitesnake', Teutonic Order with its mean Accept-style riffing and soaring chorus, and Liar is another fat tune which, like many of these tracks, couples heavy grooving riffs with some nice melodies.
Two For A Lie won't change the world, but it plays its part in making it more of a Heavy Metal one.
