There's something wonderfully consistent about The Offspring. Their records are always fresh and packed full of infectious tunes, and Let The Bad Times Roll is no exception. The title track is one of their best songs ever, and is the kind of song that will reel new listeners in like a Punk rock loving fish!
It's fun, political, self-deprecating, dark party music at its finest. There's an intelligence and self-awareness running through the album, and the lyrics are very poignant especially when considering the time it has been released. The Offspring sound as relevant and vital now as they ever did.
Aside from that amazing title track, my other favourites are This Is Not Utopia, Behind Your Walls and the snotty Coming For You. I also have to mention Army Of One and The Opioid Diaries which are both massive tunes too.
There's a piano version of their 1997 ballad Gone Away which is nothing short of awesome. I wouldn't say I prefer it to the original, but it's an amazing version in its own right.
Anyone who didn't like them before will be unlikely to be won over by this new record. However, even the casual fan will be hooked in by the songs on offer here. I think I have all of their albums, and it's been a very long time since they've released one as rock solid as this.
